I swear I thought I had a thread up on this somewhere.
I feel a connection to this film because
a)I lived the book as a child
b)a friend of mine was lead artist on this film.
That being said, I really dig how they are pulling these critters together. There are reviews online about the new trailer that is going to drop in the next bit. These people are using the standard "stunning" and "mesmerizing" type adjectives. I dunno, but I am definitely curious. The trailer will be in front of MONSTERS and ALIENS which drops Mar. 27th.
These pictures below have been circulating for awhile, but they communicate a feel to the film that really has me curious.
Apparently there is going to be a line of skateboards, bobble heads and other things in regards to this movie. That is what the "switch flip" pic is about. I was tempted to post the pic of the different faces of the monsters on the skateboards...but in the end, I felt meh.

with Spike Jonze directing, I think some people are tapping into his skateboard director roots for those quotes.
I heard those big costumes are Jim Hensen workshop stuff. I'll be really happy if they leave the CGI out and make a big puppetshow.

I can't tell you how excited I am for this movie. Something stirred in me from the moment I saw the pictures and then when I saw the trailer I knew that this movie was made for me. Just captures something I felt as a child

THE VARIETY REVIEW
The problem that they cite is the one I have been worried about. If the book is just a few pages long and a few words, how are they going to blow it into a 90 minute opus? I don't think that the bogging down that this film will take because of that issue will be bad...but it is stuill something to consider.
